Largo Presents Fire House Family Cook-offLARGO - Stir up some fun at this year's Fire House Family Cook-off event. Kids and their families are encouraged to take part in this fun-filled event and show off their culinary skills for a chance to win some great prizes. To be selected to participate in the cook-off, families must submit a healthy and budget-friendly recipe that falls within the categories of Breakfast Matters, School Lunches, Healthy Snacks, Family Favorites, Vegetarian Dishes and Birthday/Party Foods. Recipes must be submitted online at www.allkids.org/familycookoff, emailed to gilmorek@allkids.org or faxed to (727) 767-8551 no later than Friday, October 9th. Cook-off finalists will be notified by October 10th. On Saturday, October 17th from 11a.m.-2 p.m., the cook-off will begin and friends and family are invited to support the teams as they prepare their dishes to place before the panel of judges. Final prepared dishes will be evaluated based on ease of preparation, creativity, and of course, taste! Prizes will be awarded to the participants, including $125, $100 and $75 Publix gift cards for first through third place winners. The winning team will also be featured in the St. Pete Times. This free event is designed for 1st through 5th graders plus one adult to assist with all kitchen duties. The cook-off will take place at Largo's Fire House #41, located at 180 4th Street SW, Largo.
