Clearwater Central Catholic Defeats Indian Rocks Christian

LARGO- Most of the fans of the team at Indian Rocks Christian School wore white to support the Golden Eagles. It was the first time when the two teams from Clearwater Central Catholic and Indian Rocks Christian schools faced each other in a district game. IRCS's Golden Eagles along with wide receiver Tyler Ostheim, quarterback Blake Farver (127 passing yards) and defense Sean Harvey linebacker tried to challenge CCC for the elite title but lost 21-14.

The Marauders were led by Eric Miller and Nick Newton quarterbacks. The game was determined when Newton who had a 6-yard touchdown run with 40 seconds left to beat IRC.

IRCS Varsity Football coach Mark Buchanan said the team is well-prepared.

"They are performing right to the expectations. We are trying to take one game at a time," Buchanan said.

This is the second loss for Indian Rocks Christian in the district for this season after it was defeated by Fort Meade Miners. IRCS's next game will be homecoming on October 23 against Lakewood Christian.

Indian Rocks Christian School also had the first tailgate party before the game to raise the school's spirit and recognize their teams said Indian Rocks Christian principal and bowling coach Perry Banse. Banse said he hopes that the Indian Rocks Christian will be one of the two teams that will go to the playoffs at the end of the year.
