Frenchy's 25th Annual Stone Crab Weekend ActivitiesCLEARWATER BEACH - Frenchy's restaurants of Clearwater Beach will host their 25th annual Stone Crab Weekend October 16th, 17th & 18th. They will be offering Stone Crab at wholesale prices all weekend, while supplies last, along with a Bud Light Lime special. In addition to the traditional Stone Crab Weekend, there will be a block party to celebrate their 25th anniversary to be held in front of the Original Frenchy's Café (41 Baymont St., Clearwater Beach). The block party will be Friday October 16th and Saturday October 17th from 11 a.m. -11 p.m. There will be live music from Gregg Billings, The Black Honkeys, Otis and Old School Band, and Sal Belloise, just to mention a few. Along with the entertainment there will be a variety of food, beer specials and of course Stone Crab Claws at wholesale prices. Many places try to imitate this phenomena started by Frenchy's in 1984 when owner, Michael "Frenchy" Preston, decided to offer his signature fresh Stone Crab Claws to the general public for just above cost. He included discounted prices for beer and offered one-of-a-kind T-shirts. Today, visitors from around the world flock to Frenchy's restaurants to enjoy the fresh claws and festive "Beach Party" atmosphere. According to Preston, "Stone Crab Weekend is the biggest event we have all year. It's amazing how many people come here to enjoy these fresh Stone Crab Claws with us year after year. Some actually plan their vacations around this event." Frenchy's does not accept reservations, but in addition to the block party, they will have extra seating and entertainment at Frenchy's Saltwater Café.
