The National Society of Arts & Letters Announces 2009-2010 Competition

The National Society of Arts & Letters sponsors an annual competition focusing on a different area each year. This year the competition will be in the category of Literature, specifically the Short Story Writing.

The National First Prize Award of $10,000 will be awarded at the National Convention to be held here in Clearwater at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort May 20-23.

To become a candidate one must submit two original short stories totaling 7500 words, one in the first person and the other in a third person venue, to the local chapter, Clearwater-Tampa Bay Chapter, by February 12, 2010. The entries will be judged locally. First, Second, and Third place winners will be presented and awarded monetary prizes at the Clearwater-Tampa Bay Chapter's Annual Award Luncheon at the Belleair Country Club on April 10, 2010.

First place recipient will automatically be entered in the National Competition. Winner must be in attendance at the National Convention held May 20-23, 2010 in order to compete on the National level. In addition to the cash award, the first place award recipient will have travel and accommodations covered for the national competition.

Candidates must show proof of U.S. citizenship, be between the ages of 18 and 33, not be nor previously been under professional management, and be available to attend the local Award Luncheon and the National Awards Convention.
