Parks and Rec Board to Consider Honoring John WiserCLEARWATER - The City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation Board will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, October 27, 2009, beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Office Board Room, 2nd floor of The Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Road, Clearwater, Florida to consider naming the Countryside Recreation Center Gymnasium. Countryside residents had promoted naming the gym after long-time resident and activist John Wiser following his death this past summer. Among Wiser's many causes was support for youth athletics in the Countryside area. Individuals wishing to address this item should be present at the beginning of the meeting. The Board will make a recommendation on the proposed name and submit it to the Clearwater City Council for a final decision.
