Belleair Commission Continues Traffic StudyBy Leo CoughlinBELLEAIR - The Town Commission at its regular meeting Tuesday night took a property located at 1601 Indian Rocks Road off the list of historic structures, paving the way for disposition of the site. The property, actually located on the corner of Althea Road and Golf View Drive, was heavily damaged by fire about 10 years ago. In other action, the commission continued to discuss issues with town traffic. One of the trouble spots has been Cypress Avenue which has been used as a short cut, much to the chagrin of residents. Any action, including the idea of lowering speed limits in the town, was continued. Results of a survey on what residents wanted with solid waste pickup are still under study. Returns from the survey showed that most did not want to pay extra for side yard pickup. The cost of curb side pickup of trash is $50 bi-monthly, or $25 a month. Side yard pickup would add $15 to the bi-monthly cost. About 50 percent of residents responded to the survey. |
