Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisNext Tuesday, October 29, the ghosts and goblins, both large and small, of the Clearwater Islands, will gather at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center for fun and games, refreshments and Halloween stories and crafts. It's time for the annual Halloween carnival party. You'll want to be there the whole time, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., ready to greet your neighbors and enjoy the excitement. The Recreation Center staff and the Clearwater Beach Library staff have combined their considerable talents to make sure a good time is had by all. Coming up, is the last weekend of the swimming season at the Recreation Center Swimming pool. These last few weeks have been compliments of the Friends of the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library. And the "Friends" are busy planning a couple of fund-raisers so that we can have an even longer swimming season, next year. Anyone interested in being a member of the Friends of the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library may call Pat Power at 446-0929. Your energy, enthusiasm and ideas are needed and welcome. If you haven't tried the Hoola Hooping class, you need to stop in at the Center on Thursday, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon. It's worth it just to watch. See you at the Carnival. I'll be the gypsy in all the loudest clothes I can find in my closet but you probably won't recognize me.
