Long Center Hosts "Dr. Dan" Table Tennis Tourneyby Sandi Fahy
Photo by SANDI FAHY CLEARWATER - The Sunrise Table Tennis Club recently hosted the "Dr. Dan" Rapper Table Tennis Tournament at the Long Center. Some 50 persons ages 9 to 80 turned out to compete in the event sponsored by Dr. Dan Montzka. Al Palumbo was tournament director. Those who took home trophies from the competition were Luis Sanchez, first place, and Ray Look, second place, in Class A; Richard Moreau, first place, and Steve Weiss, second place, in Class B; Andrew Guy, first place, and Mark Bailey, second place, in Class C; Chris Diamantopulos, first place, in Class E; Austin Boni, first place, and Spencer Myers, second place, in Class F. The Sunrise Table Tennis Club will also be hosting the USATT-sanctioned Clearwater Open Orange Blossom tournament at the Ross Norton Recreation Complex in Clearwater on Saturday, November 21. The center is located at 1426 S. Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue. Spectators are welcome. The club has some 140 members throughout the county, who meet for play and practice each week at one or more of five locations. They include the Countryside Recreation Center, Long Center and Ross Norton Recreation Complex in Clearwater and recreation centers in Palm Harbor and St. Petersburg.
