'Henry' Sculpture Installed on Cleveland Street
Sculptor Doug Makemson, Cultural Arts Specialist Chris Hubbard, City of Clearwater Building and Maintenance art installation team. The third in a series of three public sculptures that are part of the "Sculpture360 II: Art in the Cleveland Street District" was installed Monday, Nov. 2, at Cleveland Street, just east of Osceola Avenue, downtown Clearwater. It is titled "Henry" and is the likeness of a dog constructed of materials taken from farm equipment. The first of the three pieces was installed August 27. "Going Green" by Jack Howard-Potter is on display east of the Cleveland Street and Garden Avenue intersection. The second sculpture, "Linear V" by Jarret Hawkins, was installed Sept. 3 just west of East Avenue. The trio replaces last year's sculptures, by Hanna Jubran, of Grimesland, NC; Claudia Jane Klein of Lake Worth, FL; and Bruce White of Nokomis, FL that had been on display since July 2008. The sculpture program provides new works each year in downtown Clearwater and is funded through a partnership with the Downtown Development Board. It brings high-quality public artwork to city residents and visitors.
