Pillow Marathon a Success
(Back l-r) Krista Kroski, Clearwater; Cynthia Basco, Dunedin. (Front l-r) Marla Moore, Dunedin; Nancy Evans, Palm Harbor. It was three full days of cutting, sewing, ironing, and stuffing at the Powell Cancer Center on the Morton Plant Hospital campus. Sixty-four people donated their time during the pillow making marathon from October 21-23, hosted by the Hearts, Arts and More Cancer Support Group and the Fill A Heart organization. The heart shaped pillows are donated to the Morton Plant Mease Health Care Hospitals for patients who have undergone breast or underarm surgery. The shape of the pillow provides physical and emotional comfort following surgery - 161 pillows were completed and delivered while 540 pillows were in stages of completion, making a grand total of 701 pillows. Volunteers came from across the bay area including Tampa, Palm Harbor, Largo, Clearwater, Trinity and Seminole.
