Email sent to Clearwater Mayor and City Council - Pinellas PatriotsI have been informed by someone who attended the Veterans' Appreciation Day at Bright House Field on Saturday, November 7, that Mayor Frank Hibbard stated, "If you know any of the protesters outside, please tell them the next time they see a veteran they should thank him for their right to protest." It was pointed out and it was meant to be cruel. However, those "protesters" were members of the Pinellas Patriots and the North Pinellas 912 Project, and we were there SUPPORTING the troops and vets. My sign said specifically, "It's our Military that keeps us free!" Perhaps the Mayor simply did not notice all the American flags being waved, but let me assure him we were there IN SUPPORT of our troops and veterans. - Steve Petruff
