CLEARWATER - Golf great, Chi Chi Rodriguez visited the Tampa Bay this past week to visit with his kids--students attending the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy elementary school in Clearwater. Rodriguez helped raise funds for the school by hosting the 30th Annual Chi Chi Classic golf tournament and also presided over the finals of The Ross Realty Group "Million Dollar Hole In One Contest", held October 30-November 14 at the new Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf and Family Sports Complex located across from the Academy at 2987 N. McMullen Booth Road.

The Chi Chi Rodriguez Youth Foundation formed after Bill Hayes, teacher, golfer, and part-time detention officer, invited Rodriguez to hold a golf clinic at a Florida juvenile detention center. The men saw that the lessons learned from the game of golf would be perfect instruction to help at-risk adolescents succeed in their scholastic and character education. The Hayes-Rodriguez team enlisted Bob James, founder of Raymond James Financial, Inc. and together the three men started the Foundation, a not for profit 501(c) 3 organization, which supports the Chi Chi Rodriguez Academy.
