Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisBrush up on your best bids! Dust off your cards! Call your bridge-playing buddies and get ready! Social bridge season starts again at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center on Monday, from 1 to 4 p.m. The open airy feel and fresh look of the newly renovated center will make it more fun than ever to win those hands, or even to lose a few. Or, if you're planning to make a new year's resolution to get more exercise, you don't have to wait until January 1, or 2, or 3. The modern exercise room is ready and waiting and, unlike those you find elsewhere, not very crowded. There's also yoga and Zumba and Hooping 101 and variety line dancing as well as something called "Butts and Guts" for the more energetic exerciser. All these are ways you can enjoy getting the exercise you know is good for you. Keep the Recreation Center and Library in mind as you plan for your holiday visitors. When the kids get restless you can send (or take) them down to play tennis, take some basketball shots, or even have a lively game of Wii on video. (My two-year-old great grandson beat me at tennis my first time around at Wii.) Other visitor pleasers are the wide selection of videos at the Library and books for every taste. And, while you are thinking about fun things to do in December, make a note to reserve December 22, in the evening, for the annual Clearwater Beach Association Christmas Caroling in the park beside the fire station. It's a good way to share Christmas wishes with friends and neighbors. And, if the Turkey and all the trimmings sent your bathroom scales into a tizzy, you still have time to work it off, either in the workout room, or by the dancing classes, or even the new one called Butts And Guts workout you'll find available at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center.
