Pinellas Deputies Received 100 Bikes for Kids in Sheriff's "Christmas Sharing Project"
Life Brokerage Partners of Oldsmar donated 100 bicycles and helmets to the Pinellas Sheriff's Christmas Sharing Project. They were all decorated with red bows and were presented to Sheriff Jim Coats for delivery to deserving children with the Sheriff's Christmas Sharing Project. The Bechtel family of Life Brokerage Partners is giving back to the community through their generous donation of 100 bicycles to augment the purchases made through the Christmas Sharing Project. The Bechtel family was on hand to help deputies load the bikes for their families. Deputy sheriffs loaded the bicycles and other Christmas packages into their cruisers for delivery to the children and families. The Christmas deliveries are part of the annual Sheriff's Christmas Sharing Project, where Pinellas Sheriff's Office members submit the names of children, crime victims and families who need help over the holidays. The deliveries consist of food, clothing and toys. Over 500 children and over 200 families were served through this program. The clothing and toys for these deliveries were purchased Thursday, December 10th, with the funds earned from the Sheriff's 16th Annual "Ride & Run With The Stars" event, held Saturday, December 5th at Fort DeSoto Park. Each family receiving assistance from the Sheriff's Christmas Sharing project was identified and nominated for holiday assistance by Sheriff's Office members who met them during their daily work in the community. Pinellas County Sheriff Jim Coats has expressed his appreciation to the Bechtel family and all the members of the community who contributed to the success of the 2009 Christmas Sharing Project.
