The Way I See It

By cj pollick

Readers Agree - Last week The Way I See It had a small piece of information about the Belleair Beach Causeway project. Amenities that are a part of the new bridge project were mentioned such as the boat ramp, free fishing area, parking area, free dog beach area, etc, were discussed. And, as was stated last week, the new highrise bridge project was/is an award winning bridge project.

Gazette readers emailed to state their views on this project and all readers agreed it is a great addition to the local area. One Clearwater Sand Key reader added that in his home state of New Jersey you would never find this type of project with so many free citizen-friendly options. Humorously, the reader added, "If they (NJ government) could, they would charge for the air you breathe...."

Ahh, to hear about the good things being done here in Florida!

Christmas Gift From Congress - Health care reform is pretty much a done deal thanks to late night meetings by leading Democrats in Congress just prior to Christmas. As expected, Senate majority leader Harry Reid counted votes even before the elected officials had a chance to read the revised health care bill and "cut special deals" with certain senators such as Nebraska's Sen. Ben Nelson (the much needed 60th senate vote) to win passage in the senate.

However, some of those senators that supported the controversial health care bill may not win re-election due to voting for, what has been referred to as, Obamacare.

Who might be in re-election trouble due to this vote?

Arkansas Sen. Blanche Lincoln. According to one poll in Arkansas, she could lose to the GOP challenger if she votes for Obamacare by a 49-36% margin.

Sen. Harry Reid is in trouble in Nevada. His GOP opponent is leading in polling data by 49-38%.

Sen. Michael Bennel of Colorado may not win re-election.

In Delaware, a place where VP Joe Biden has tried to replace himself with his son, Biden's son at this time is trailing in polls 47-42%. Same trend is true in Louisiana, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.

With 36 of 100 senators up for re-election in 2010, some Democrat senators on the proverbial "bubble" could cost themselves re-election if they support Obamacare. Suffice that current polling data does not favor some of those incumbent senators seeking re-election.

2009's last minute health care Christmas gift by 60 Democrat senators to Americans might cost some elected folks their jobs. With the majority of Americans not in favor of Obamacare, the arrogance of some elected people could be felt in November of 2010. After all, replied one concerned taxpayer, who is going to pay for the addition of 31 million more people to the government health care plan? And, as another citizen inquired, will amnesty be given to all illegals in America and thus add them to our proposed government's health care plan?

Christmas gift from Congress?

Turning Tail and Running - Gov. Bill Ritter (D-Co), Sen. Byron Dargan (D-ND), and Sen. Chris Dodd (D-CT) all announced they are choosing to retire rather than face the American people at the polls in November.

Amnesty Next - Democrats in favor of amnesty have agreed to vote for President Barack Obama's health care legislation in exchange for an Obama promise for amnesty legislation later this year.

Another Bailout - California's $21 billion deficit over the next 18 months has Gov. Schwarzenegger seeking a federal bailout.

$16 Billion Not Enough - Though GMAC received a $16 billion cash bail-out from the Obama administration they still expect to suffer a fourth-quarter loss of nearly $5 billion.

Tebow One Of The Best Ever - When it comes to rating some of the best college football players of all-time, Tim Tebow will be included in that small, exclusive group. He ended his tenure as a Gator quarterback by leading the Gator football team over an outmanned and highly rated Cincinnati team. The era of Tim Tebow has ended at the University of Florida and Tebow is likely to be selected to play professional football in the NFL. Ironically, so-called experts who rank college football players in the professional football draft do not rank Tebow as a high draft choice, maybe not a first round draft choice say some experts.

On the other hand, there are some notable retired professional players that have said who would not want a winner like Tebow?

It has been my experience that folks that have no vices have very few virtues. - Abe Lincoln.
