Horse & Animal Sanctuary Needs Foster Homes and AcreageNapier's Log Cabin Horse & Animal Sanctuary, inc. is a rescue organization that helps horses and pet pigs (along with cats and dogs) throughout Florida. The organization has taken in more than 30 horses and 20 pet pigs in 2009. Down on their luck owners (foreclosures, evictions, lost jobs with no money to care and feed themselves let alone the animals) continue to call the group with requests for help, but the organization is out of room. "It is easy to say that we cannot save them all," said Napier's co-founder and president Sheree Napier, "but it is harder to say when the crying owner has you on the phone or the emailed photo is staring at you and you know you are the horses' last hope." Although the organization hopes to eventually find someone generous enough to donate or owner-finance some grazing acreage, the rescue currently works through a network of foster homes. Foster homes supply hay and grain and cover the farrier expenses (all of which could be tax-deductible since Napier's is a 501(c)(3) animal rescue). The rescue pays for veterinary bills, approved medications and supplements and paste dewormers. The rescue provides mentoring and coaching on rehabilitating neglected horses. Anyone interested in becoming a foster home is asked to complete a foster home application and undergo a pre-fostering home visit. If you are interested in helping needy horses by fostering, please contact Napier's Log Cabin Horse & Animal Sanctuary, inc. at www.NapierFamilyFarm.com or call Alan at 941-750-8185. If you have acreage that you are willing to donate for a income tax write-off or you are able to owner-finance it, visit www.NapierFamilyFarm.com or call Alan at 941-750-8185.
