Statewide Elections Association Offers College Scholarships

If you are a college junior or senior majoring in political science, public administration or business administration, journalism or mass communications at an accredited Florida college, you may be eligible for a scholarship!

The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections, comprised of the 67 county supervisors, will award three scholarships this year valued at $1,200 each to eligible students. "I am pleased that the state association is able to continue this scholarship program to assist students during these difficult economic times", said Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Deborah Clark.

Applicants must be registered voters who have lived in Florida at least two years and must have maintained a "C" average or above during the past year. Other requirements such as letters of recommendation and financial information are listed on the scholarship application and in the scholarship guidelines, which are available for download at www.votepinellas.com. Applications should be submitted in the county in which the student is registered to vote.

Scholarship applications must be returned by 5 p.m. March 19 to the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections offices at 315 Court St., Room 117, Clearwater; 13001 Starkey Rd., Largo; or 501 1st Ave. N., St. Petersburg.
