Pinellas County Commissioner Kenneth T. Welch Honored At MLK Banquet

Pinellas County Commissioner Kenneth T. Welch was named recipient of this year's Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major for Justice Award.

The prestigious distinction was presented at the 25th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Drum Major for Justice Awards Banquet on Friday, Jan. 15, in the downtown St. Petersburg Hilton.

Joining Welch in receiving this year's award were St. Petersburg mayor William Foster, along with Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church pastor and president of Faith and Action for Strength Together (FAST) Rev. Robert Ward.

The Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday and Legacy Association Inc sponsor the award. It is presented annually to those leaders who, through service and dedication, have worked to promote racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious harmony in our communities in the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
