2009 Pinellas County Sheriff Department's "Community Leadership Award"The Pinellas County Sheriff Department's 11th Annual Community Service Awards breakfast was held on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Hilton Carillon Park Hotel. The annual event recognizes the dedicated efforts of Neighborhood Watch leaders from communities in Sheriff Jim Coats' jurisdiction. Additional citizens are recognized for their roles in making Pinellas County a safer community. Rick Chaboudy, Executive Director and Co-founder of Suncoast Animal League, was nominated by Sheriff's deputies and selected to receive the "Community Leadership Award" for his acts in 2009 of providing Sheriff's deputies with assistance during situations with members of the community when animals are involved. Mr. Chaboudy was also recognized for his participation in protecting animals in Pinellas County for the past 25 years.
