Recs and Reads

By Anne McKay Garris

Don't let the cold weather get you down. There's indoor fun to be had at the Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library. In fact, just sitting in one of those comfortable chairs, enjoying the view out those big, wide windows while you read the newspaper, or a book of your choice, can give you the illusion of a warm, sunny day.

Or, you can find a good movie or two to take home with you. The selection is unreal. Last week I checked out a W.C. Fields movie for friend who is a great W.C. Fields fan. Goodness! I'm not sure how long ago that movie was made.

Then there's the bowling and tennis games you can play, online. It's called Wii and you'd be surprised at how easy it is to play, and how much exercise it really is. That's at 1:00 p.m., Wednesdays for adults and 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday or teens.

And now they have personal trainers available in the weight room, as well as a whole bunch of good workouts, like line dancing, "butts and guts" exercise, and a new program for Pilate enthusiasts.

Call the Recreation Center at (727) 462-6138 for information about these and other programs. If you are interested in learning more about digital photography, better sign up for that class, as it's limited and there are already a number of names on the list.
