Two Students Named Student Of The Month
Demetrius Dalton, a 4th grader at Sandy Lane Elementary, admires his Medal Award as Student of the Month at the Rotary Club of Clearwater.
Two Elementary students were awarded Student of the Month at the Wednesday noon meeting of the Rotary Club of Clearwater at the Belleair Country Club. Dr. Bill Layman, Rotarian and Orthodontist, presented a framed certificate, Medal medallion, and a Borders gift certificate to each student. Merlen Torres, a 1st grade student at Belleair Elementary, was awarded Student of the Month. Her mother, Maria Donu, enjoyed the celebration, while teacher Camilla Collins recognized Merlen for her leadership, commitment to education, honesty, and, at times, "does not need the teacher in the room". Demetrius Dalton, a 4th grade student at Sandy Lane Elementary, was awarded Student of the Month. His teacher, Angela Livingston, said that Demetrius was outstanding academically, setting an example as a good citizen and a role model. His mother, Erica Armstrong, attended the presentation.
