Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisIt's got to get warmer next week because, guess what, the Clearwater Beach Recreation Complex pool opens on Monday. Once again you can join your friends in that best of all exercise, water aerobics. Better yet, there's a new answer to "Mother, what can I do?" There's something to be said for relaxing in the shade with a good book while your kids entertain themselves. Mind you, that's only if your children are old enough to be watched by a lifeguard without your help. Do you know, also, that the pool is available for private parties? It's a great place for family parties because there's a lifeguard to watch the kiddies and this gives the parents the choice of either playing with their little ones in the pool or experience some adult conversation or some of both. Better yet, it's a great place to host a birthday party. The Rec Center staff know some nifty water games for children to play, and you don't have to worry about chocolate cake or strawberry punch spilled on your nice clean carpet or furniture. Next Tuesday will be the second session of the very popular All About Shells program, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. The people who came last Tuesday had a great time and learned a lot about shells and how to use them for decorating ordinary household items. The cost is only $15 and the money benefits the projects of the Friends of the Clearwater Beach Library and Recreation Center. While we're talking about renting the pool area, may I remind you that our newly redecorated Recreation Center is also available for you to rent for parties, weddings or wedding rehearsals parties, or most any other occasion you are thinking of. The number is (727) 462-6138.
