
Longtime Beach Resident Maria Aivaliotis Tsambis Will Be Missed
Maria Aivaliotis Tsambis, a resident of Clearwater Beach since the 1950s, died on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Harbour Wood Health and Rehab Center. She was 88 years old. She was born in Icaria, Greece and came to America at the age of 16. Daughter of the late Aristotle and Elizabet Aivaliotis, she was predeceased by her sister Irene and her brother Antonio, and is survived by her brothers, George, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and, Pandele, of Athens, Greece. She is also survived by her children, Elizabeth Gensante of Pittsburgh, Charlotte Pardos of Clearwater Beach, and Gus Tsambis of New Port Richey, as well as six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and six nieces and nephews. Maria's love of cooking brought joy to friends and family, who were regulars at her dinner table. She retired as a food service manager for the Pinellas County Schools, and will be remembered as a spirited figure in the Greek-American community in Clearwater. She will be dearly missed by friends, family, and neighbors. A funeral service was held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Clearwater.
