The Caladesi Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, recently honored four students from Dunedin Academy for winning First Place Chapter and State Awards in the annual Junior American Citizens (JAC) contest. The contest is open to students in K-12.

The purpose of JAC is to teach America's school children the principles of our democratic government and an appreciation of our country. This year's theme was, "America, Land of the Free and Home of the Brave." The students could enter short stories, poems, stamp designs, banners, photographic essays or community service. The winning entries will be sent on to Southeast District and to National for further judging.

Caladesi Chapter will hold their next meeting at 12:30 p.m. on April 19th, at Friendship Hall of the First United Methodist Church (421 Main Street, Dunedin.) The ROTC Award and American History Essay Awards will be presented.

Any woman age 18 or older that can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution is eligible to become a member, and is invited to attend the meeting. For more information, call (727) 733-5383.
