United Daughters of the Confederacy Observed Confederate Memorial Day

The United Daughters of the Confederacy observed Confederate Memorial Day with a ceremony at the UDC Memorial Building in Clearwater.

On April 17th friends and members of the Mary Custis Lee Chapter 1451 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy observed Confederate Memorial Day, at a ceremony held at the UDC Memorial Building in Clearwater. Mr. Jack Bolan gave an informative program regarding the 79,000 Southern Crosses of Honor awarded to Confederate soldiers and sailors beginning almost 30 years after the end of the war.

Tributes were paid to those men and women in attendance with military service in modern times. A cannon demonstration captured the attention of all when loaded and fired by a re-enactor artillery crew. The UDC performs historical, educational, benevolent, and patriotic activities, and welcomes those interested in Southern history and heritage.
