Clearwater Civitans' Call for Volunteers was Successful

The Clearwater Civitans had a busy week! First they initiated new club members, and then they staffed the refreshment stand at the Saturday morning Challenger Little League game at Sid Lickton Field. After the game, as a team sponsor, they participated in the Challenger Little League closing ceremonies at the Dunedin Elks Lodge. That evening four volunteers from the Club served at the Clearwater Sister City Dinner honoring the Mayor and delegates from Nagano, Japan, as well as Mayor Hibbard and the Clearwater City Council.

Clearwater Civitans called for help. The Second Area Jamboree of the Challenger Division of Little League Baseball was scheduled for May 1st and 2nd, and the Civitans volunteered to staff the refreshment stand both days. On the 1st and the 2nd the 25 Clearwater Civitans and North Pinellas Junior Civitans were joined by 13 additional volunteers. The additional volunteers were members of Junior Civitan Advisor, April Oberle's family and co-workers from Piper Fire Protection of Largo. They prepared, sold, and served hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches, and soft drinks to the estimated one thousand participants, parents, siblings, and visitors that attended the Second Area Jamboree of the Challenger Division of Little League Baseball.
