
Lincoln-Norcross Award Goes to Sandy HarperBy Leo Coughlin
BELLEAIR - Sandy Cooke Harper was recognized Monday night at Alfano's Restaurant with the 2010 Lincoln-Norcross Memorial Service Award. The award from the Republican Club of Greater Largo goes each year to an individual who has performed extraordinary efforts to foster equality among people and who has a keen sense of justice, fairness and empathy. T.J. Schmitz, past president of the club, noted the many accomplishments and service by Harper to the community. She was treasurer of the Largo High School PTSA for many years, has served as chairperson of the St. Patrick School Board, assistant administrator for Little League Baseball, and is a member of the Largo Women's Club and board member of the Republican Club. A graduate of Largo High School, she is retired from AEGON Insurance Company where she worked in investor relations. The mother of four, she is the wife of former Largo City Commissioner Charlie Harper.
