Local Students Named Student of the Month
Student of the Month Zyrle Agustin with his teacher, Ms. Reanna Braunscheidel. Student of the Month Alondra Ochoa with her teacher, Ms. Lindsey Maddox. At a recent Wednesday noon meeting at the Belleair Country Club, the Rotary Club of Clearwater extended its focus on education by hosting the Students of the Month for May, Zyrle Agustin and Alondra Ochoa. Zyrle is in fifth grade at Sandy Lane Elementary School and was joined by his teacher, Ms. Reanna Braunscheidel, and his parents, Annabelle and Frank Pound. Alondra is in fourth grade at Belleair Elementary School and was joined by her teacher, Ms. Lindsey Maddox, and her mother, Tiffany Paris. Ms. Braunscheidel nominated Zyrle as Student of the Month due to his exemplary performance in school. He is originally from the Philippines and learned English as his second language. He received straight A's and made the principal's list all year. He also participated in every after school activity and served as a role model for the other students. Ms. Maddox nominated Alondra as Student of the Month because she is a star in her school, both academically and socially. She always tries her best, is a role model for other students, and is always on task. She is a joy to have in class and is helpful and courteous to other students and her teacher. Each student received a Rotarian Club of Clearwater Student of the Month Certificate, a $20 gift card to Borders, a bumper sticker, and a medal.
