"Second Time Around" to be Produced at Regency OaksCLEARWATER - "Second Time Around" Executive Producer, Patrick J. Schaefer, and Regency Oaks Life Care Community Relations Director, Judy Stump, jointly announced the on-site production of the Second Time Around television program. Second Time Around is a 1-hour television program along the lines of the popular American Idol, with the exception that participants are limited to seniors of retirement age. The senior population of the United States is the fastest growing segment of society today, and as the Baby Boomers approach their sixties it is becoming obvious that they are not going gracefully into retirement and have no intention of growing old gracefully. Millions of retirees now reside in large Active Life Care Communities, and are eager for recreational activities that are not associated with the previous "concept" of retirement. Many of these residents are extremely talented or former entertainers who no longer have the opportunity to perform or showcase their talent as they did in their younger day…hence…Second Time Around. According to Mrs. Stump, "Our residents are constantly looking for new and unusual activities, and when we saw the Second Time Around program concept, we felt it would offer not only our residents, but seniors in the Clearwater area the opportunity to participate in something they probably had not done before. We received extensive interest in the show from various residents we spoke with while doing research into the possibility of doing this program at our Life Care Community and feel it has all the elements to not only benefit our on-site and local residents, but be a highly successful television program." Second Time Around will stage and video tape for television airing, talented (and maybe not so talented) seniors currently residing in the greater Clearwater area. Contestants will perform vocally using a Karaoke format or self-accompanying themselves with an appropriate musical instrument. The winner will be chosen by a panel of judges and by audience reaction to their performance, and will win a prize package and championship trophy. Second Time Around is produced and distributed by Schaefer Entertainment Group International, Inc. (SEGI) based in Tampa, Florida. Production begins in August.
