Clearwater Civitan Scholarships to Special Education TeachersFour teachers, three from Calvin Hunsinger School, and one from Lighthouse For The Blind interviewed with the Clearwater Civitan Club and were awarded scholarships as follows. Marie Smith, a teacher of vision challenged persons at the Lighthouse For The Blind, required more education for an upgrade of her status. Diane Szendroi, a new specialist at the Calvin Hunsinger School, required certification for special education students. Ginonde Jester requested reimbursement for a number of certifications at Calvin Hunsinger School. Paula Schelling, Literary Coach at the Calvin Hunsinger School, needs to take a certificate course and test to remain on her job at the school. A total of $1350 was awarded to help the teachers of special need students in the community.
