Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisChildren of all ages will enjoy being there when the author of "Vincent J. Muggs 'What if?'" reads his delightful book for them on Tuesday, June 29, at the Clearwater Beach Library, at 10:00 a.m. This visit with author John Hanna is this week's adventure during the six weeks Youth Story Time and Crafts program at the library. Everyone is invited. After you've met Vincent J. Muggs, and heard about him from the man who thought him up, you'll want to visit the Beach Library (when it opens at 1:00 p.m.) and browse through other books that make you smile, in the extensive children's collection. You also will not want to miss Frog Friday, tomorrow evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Clearwater Beach Pool. Gather up some friends and join your neighbors for this splashy celebration of summer. For those who have asked, the slide was in dangerously poor condition, so it was removed for safety's sake, but the games are still an exciting part of Frog Friday. If you're looking for a summer adventure, you are welcome at the Writers' Group, which meets the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Recreation Center. From 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., people wanting to write gather to assist each other in their efforts. After a very short discussion, the group agreed to continue through the summer. Begun as a six week trial, the group is now well into its second year. Preliminary recommendations for City budget cuts include both the Beach Pool and Library. Have you e-mailed City Council members your feelings on this yet? Please do so!
