Family Fun at Frog FridayBy Vicki Jackson
Photo by Pat Power Dozens of people jumped at the chance to splash into some cool family fun at the first of the season Frog Friday celebrated at the beautiful Clearwater Beach Family Aquatic Center on June 25th. The evening included music, a variety of relay races and other water games, and a participatory drum circle. In addition, free pizza, chips, and beverages were provided for all. According to J. P. Atherholt, Recreation Supervisor II for the City of Clearwater, such parties have been held each summer for several years. It's really a great opportunity, since the event cost is the same as for pool admission alone. Regular adult and youth fees are $6 and $4, respectively. Normal discounts apply to holders of a Recreation Card or Play Pass. July is Parks and Recreation Month, and the perfect way to create a memory is to bring your family and join the friendly crowd at the upcoming Frog Friday at the beautiful Clearwater Beach pool. J.P. said the drummer was so well received that he's been invited back and will bring his drums again this month. In addition, a magician will circulate among the guests and perform magical tricks. As usual, music and water games will add to the fun. If that weren't enough, a local restaurant, Forlini's, has generously offered to donate food for this month's event. It's looking good. The next fantastic Frog Friday will be July 23rd from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. For additional information, call (727) 462-6020.
