New Program to Benefit Pet Owners and City Parks

CLEARWATER - The City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department is asking residents to bring plastic grocery and newspaper bags to collection sites. These bags will replace ones that were previously purchased by the city for use at city dog parks. Recycling bins will be placed at the following locations:

Municipal Services Building, 100 S. Myrtle Ave.
Clearwater City Hall, 112 S. Osceola Ave.
Long Center, 1501 N. Belcher Rd.
Countryside Recreation Center, 2640 Sabal Springs Dr.

Once the bags are collected, they will be distributed to the city's parks and placed in a dispenser. This will save the city $10,000 each year and is an environmentally conscious alternative to the previous dog waste disposal program. Pinellas County already has a similar program in place at their parks.
