Barnyard Animals Recognized at SPCA EventPhotos/text by SANDI FAHY
Tabitha the Horse nuzzles SPCA Tampa Bay communications manager Megan Trethewey for a treat at the Largo shelter's Cow Appreciation Day on July 24. Visitors were invited to come meet permanent resident Angie the Cow and her barnyard friends--22-year-old Tabitha, Mo the Donkey, horses Leon and Wade, goats Goaticus and Brian D. Goat and others. Angie, the guest of honor, kept to herself in the shade of a tree while the other animals gathered at the fence for apple slices, carrots and other snacks from their human friends. The 10-year-old cow has been a resident at the SPCA since she was a baby found trapped in a ravine in St. Petersburg.
Goaticus the Goat receives some attention and a snack from Kristen Tuzzo and her daughter, Olivia Tuzzo, 3 1/2, during Cow Appreciation Day at SPCA Tampa Bay headquarters in Largo on July 24.
