
Largo Fire Rescue Names "Educator of the Year"
Senator Charlie Justice presents "Educator of the Year" award to Jeanine Green.
LARGO - The City of Largo is pleased to announce that Jeanine Green, Fire Education Specialist, was awarded the Florida Association of Fire and Life Safety Educators' "Educator of the Year," at the 22nd Annual Fire and Life Safety Educators Conference on June 30th. Jeanine was chosen for her extraordinary commitment to educating her community about fire prevention and fire safety during the year. "This is a tremendous honor for me and Largo Fire Rescue to receive this award. We all work very hard during the year to get the word out about fire prevention and safety and it's great to be recognized," Green stated. Jeanine's career in the fire service started at the Gulfport Fire Department as a volunteer firefighter/EMT. She is a State Certified EMT and Firefighter 1 and 2. In October 1994, Jeanine was hired as the part-time public educator for Largo Fire Rescue. The position became a full-time position in 1996. As public educator for Largo Fire Rescue, Jeanine provides fire and life safety education programs that are tailored to meet the needs of the community from the youngest preschooler to the mature adult. Jeanine's accomplishments include state certified Instructor I, Fire and Life Safety Educator and Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Specialist 1 and 2. She is currently an active member of the Emergency Safety Educators' Association of Tampa Bay, Florida Safe Pools, Suncoast Safe Kids, and the Pinellas Fall Prevention Coalition. Jeanine is the secretary for the Florida Association of Fire and Life Safety Educators Executive Board and the Pinellas County Education Chair for the Community Traffic and Safety Team.
