Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic Installs Executive Board

CLEARWATER - Lynn Lawton of Kappa Alpha Theta was installed as president of Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic at the group's recent end-of-the-year brunch at Dunedin Country Club. Joining her on the executive board of the Panhellenic Council in 2010-2011 are Pat Moriarty of Pi Beta Phi, vice president; Martha McBride of Phi Mu, recording secretary; Sue Meier of Zeta Tau Alpha, corresponding secretary; and Christi Regan of Kappa Delta, treasurer. Outgoing president is Claudia Leonardi of Delta Gamma.

The presentation of scholarships to five local college sorority women was also on the agenda that day. This year's recipients were Alisa Tabak, Alpha Delta Pi; Jenna Gilboy, Alpha Chi Omega; Candace Ng, Kappa Kappa Gamma; Sarah Mobberley, Kappa Delta; and Lauren Riedy, Alpha Delta Pi. Since 1975, Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic has awarded over $140,000 in scholarship monies to deserving students on the basis of scholastic achievement, participation in sorority and campus activities, personal goals, initiative and financial need.

Joann Blackburn of Kappa Alpha Theta was winner of this year's Panhellenic Achievement Award. Blackburn was recognized for her service in both the community and Panhellenic.

Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic is composed of over 350 college alumnae representing 17 national sororities. They include Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Pi Beta Phi, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma and Zeta Tau Alpha. Annual social activities include the President's Reception in September, Literary Muse Luncheon in October and Tri-City Panhellenic Luncheon in February. The organization's major fund raiser is Premier NIght, which takes place at the Largo Cultural Center in March. Members also have the opportunity to join the Panhellenic bridge group and/or Panhellenic Book Club, both of which meet monthly.
