Response to "Top Largo Employees Get Paid Big Dollars"Dear Ms. Pollick, Information was reported in the Clearwater Gazette August 5-August 11, 2010 issue, the article entitled "Top Largo Employees Get Paid Big Dollars" which included information that came from the Tampa Tribune website (TBO.com). The salary information on the Tampa Tribune website was a result of a Public Records Request by the Tampa Tribune seeking "the employee's total annual salary, wages, bonuses and other monetary compensation from all sources." The City of Largo fully answered this request, and gave salary information, as well as all other compensation such as retirement, allowances, etc. All other local governments gave only the employee's salary compensation information. Therefore, the City of Largo's numbers look high compared to other local governments that only provided base salary information. On behalf of the City, I contacted the representative from the Tampa Tribune who sent the Public Records request in April 2010, to inform him of the situation. I asked if the City of Largo could provide only the employees' salary compensation information, so the City of Largo could be providing the same information as all other local governments/municipalities. The updated salary information has been sent and received by the Tampa Tribune, with their website being updated as of noon today (8/6/10). For example, Norton Craig, City Manager, Largo, $145,600; Bill Horne, City Manager, Clearwater, $168,632; Henry Schubert, Assistant City Manager, Largo, $128,608; Pam Iorio, Mayor, Tampa, $149,999, John Carroll, Police Chief, Largo $117,270; Bill Foster, Mayor, St. Petersburg, $158,355. Sincerely, Susan Sinz
