Email to the Largo Mayor and CommissionWe watched the meeting last night and saw the discussion about the RFPs that came in for the library café. It seems our proposal was dismissed by the Finance department as "someone wanting to sell us food". It's very surprising to me that someone in charge of finance would say that about our proposal since it would seem that a "numbers" person would have at least wanted to speak further with us since we showed, in great detail, the potential income that could be generated for the city on an annual basis using our proposal and it's ten-fold the amount of rent that RGs is proposing. We also want to point out that his figure of $20,000 on equipment is rather high since the location doesn't allow on-site cooking and he would only be dealing with refrigeration and point of purchase equipment. If he is quoting prices that high, then he is purchasing retail and as anyone in the restaurant business with good business sense knows, you don't buy new as the prices have about a 500% mark-up over used. We bought all the equipment for our restaurant at auction and we outfitted the complete place for half that cost. This isn't "sour grapes". We just want the commission to see what we offered the city before you turn the place over to your only remaining choice. It seems you would want to see our offer, or even put it out for another RFP, rather than just going with "the last resort" for lack of any other choices. If the finance department no longer has our 7 copies of the proposal, we'll be happy to provide more to you. Anne Money Buck
