The above pictured waterbird is a white ibis, which is readily identified by its long, curving bill, which turns a brilliant red during breeding season. Sightings are common in this area year-round. Ibis feed on fish and aquatic invertebrates in shallow waters. They have also been known to eat small reptiles. Their habitat includes coastal salt marshes, swamps and mangroves.
