New Generation Steps Up for the ArtsLARGO - Partners N Progress for the Arts (PNP), a 501 (C) (3) organization, is taking its mission to support the arts in a new direction. "We have always been proud of our dedication to the youth in our community, and now we are attempting to recruit a new generation of individuals who will join with us in our support of the arts," says Judy Hall, President of PNP. "We are really excited about the opportunities this kind of partnership will bring as we go forward." "The idea is to offer opportunities for aspiring entertainers to plan and perform different shows that PNP sponsors," says Danny Lehan, Chairman of the 2010 Gala, the Age of Aquarius. This year the show that is part of the Gala will be created, from beginning to end, by Domenic Bisesti, and his team of thespians. "Bisesti Productions is a new company headed by Domenic, who is an extremely talented and capable young man," says Lehan. "We thought that it would give a fresh new look to our gala to give Domenic the opportunity to show us what he can do. We have become known for the excellent entertainment that is a part of our Gala; I know that this year will be no exception." Bisesti is no stranger to the stage. A Largo local, Bisesti began as a Tutterow dancer, but that was just the beginning. He has performed in Los Angeles, Utah and on major cruise ships. Bisesti was the lead performer at the 2006 gala. "For a young man, Domenic pulled it all together, working with other performers from out of town to perfect the show," says Kim Feaster, Chairman of the 2006 Gala committee. "He makes it look effortless, but I know how hard they worked to put on that fantastic show." This year's gala, the Age of Aquarius, will be a real challenge for Bisesti. "He was not even born during the 60s, but with a little advice from the aging hippies of PNP, he is coming up with a memorable evening," says Lehan. The show will have 10 musical numbers featuring the melodies from Hair and other great songs of the era. "This is a show you won't want to miss." "It is so important to cultivate interest in the arts in our younger generation," says Hall "We are really pleased with how many performers Domenic is bringing together to donate their talents to make the gala a success. We are ready to pass along what we have learned about supporting the arts to this youthful crowd." The 14th Annual Gala will be held at the Largo Cultural Center on September 25th. The yearly event is a major fundraiser for PNP for the Arts, whose mission is to support the performing arts at the Largo Cultural Center and to provide educational experiences to children. PNP is the sponsor of the Children's Theater Series at the Center and provides scholarships to disadvantaged children who wish to attend the summer theater camps, also at the Largo Cultural Center.
