VIPs Wanted at Bright House 2010 Clearwater Super Boat National Championship Festival
By Renee Burrell
Last year Super Boat International (SBI) founder, John Carbonell; Restaurateur, Frank Chivas; and Former Mayor of Clearwater, Brian Aungst Sr., brought the now annual race to Clearwater.
CLEARWATER - Last year, Super Boat brought an estimated 60,000-plus people to Clearwater, and made an estimated impact of $5-6 million on the local economy.
This year, "NASCAR on Water" returns to Clearwater and Clearwater Beach October 1st through 3rd and has named three local charities to benefit from par of the proceeds.
Though the race is free admission, passes for a VIP race experience are available for purchase through the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Clearwater Beach Chamber of Commerce. VIP ticket holders will be treated to VIP viewing on Race Sunday, VIP parties throughout the weekend along with other perks, and will contribute to bringing the joy of Clearwater's marine recreation to others. Tickets for an adult VIP admission are $100, and $25 for children 16 and under.
The charities chosen to benefit from Super Boat bring people to the water that normally wouldn't get a chance to enjoy Clearwater offshore. One, The Clearwater Community Sailing Center, offers affordable sailing opportunities to all residents and visitors including youth, seniors, and the disabled. Sailability, a non-profit that enriches the lives of people with any type of disability by providing affordable sailing and education to children and adults of all ages and abilities. Also, The Make a Difference Fishing Tournament, which is dedicated to helping handicapped children through fishing tournaments and other programs that facilitate the involvement of handicapped children in marine education and recreation.
