GFWC-CCWC Elects New President
Newly elected CCWC President, Marie Grein, presents Ann Crum with her CCWC Past Presidents pin. CLEARWATER - The Immediate Past President, Ann Crum, recently congratulated newly elected President, Marie Grein, at the General Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) and Clearwater Christian Women's Club's (CCWC) installation luncheon at the Belleair Country Club. Crum enthusiastically remarked, "The club is very fortunate to have such a wonderful leader with so much experience to take over the duties of CCWC president." Joining the club soon after retiring in 2004, Grein became club treasurer and, in 2006, was selected as the club's volunteer of the year. Grein is the immediate past president of the Florida Retired Teachers Association, a past president of the North Pinellas County Retired Educators Association, and a past southeast Section Governor of the Ninety-Nines, Inc., and part of the International Organization of Women Pilots. She taught for 36 years in the United States and abroad for the Department of Defense schools. As a licensed pilot, Grein focused on her love of flying, educating her students in Aerospace education. Grein has also spent many volunteer hours at Skycrest Elementary School in Clearwater, where she helped spread her love of Aerospace, working with the students in the school's rocketry program. Grein has also enjoyed traveling to six of the seven continents, and has recently returned from Antarctica. Asia is next on her list of places to go and people to meet! Part of Grein's duties as 2010-2011 club president will be presiding over the club's 40th Anniversary in the spring. As part of the General Federation of Woman's Clubs, an international volunteer and service organization, CCWC was founded in 1971 by 61 local women, some of whom are still active in the club. Founding members, past presidents and club members will all be honored at the spring Daisy Grants and Fashion Show to be held on March 31st at the Belleair Country Club. Also installed to the 2010-2011 CCWC executive board were: Mary Jane Robbins, 1st Vice President; Esther Miseroy, 2nd Vice President; Edie Banks, 3rd Vice President; JoAnn Roby, Recording Secretary; Ann Brewer, Corresponding Secretary; and Linda Parker, Treasurer. New members Kathy Jablonicky and Kathy Pollak were welcomed into the club and presented with a bouquet of daisies, the club flower, and a hand-painted club tote bag designed by long time club member Maggie Nichols. Additional information on GFWC and CCWC can be found on the clubs' websites: www.gfwc.org or www.clearwatercwc.org. GFWC-CCWC meets at the Clearwater Main Library on the third Tuesday of the month, September through May, at 10:00 a.m.
