Recs and ReadsBy Anne McKay GarrisSo, the calendar claims that summer 2010 is gone. The thermometer disputes that, and people who have enjoyed the Clearwater Beach pool are still enjoying it. The good news is that it will remain open for two more weekends, on Saturdays and Sundays, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm. Over at the Beach Recreation Center, Zumba has already resumed for the winter months. Pilates and "Butts and Guts" will be back in October. Boy, are we going to be gorgeous by Thanksgiving! The Beach Pool committee, appointed by the Friends Of The Clearwater Beach Recreation Center and Library, is hard at work on making our pool a year round facility, with a heated pool and invitations to pool teams and visitors to enjoy it with us. For the pool to go from being threatened with closing to hoping to be open year round in about two months is a tribute to the Friends and to the willing cooperation of Mr. Kevin Dunbar, director of the Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department. See you at the pool or, if you prefer, at our little Writer's Group, which meets the first and third Wednesday of every month at the Clearwater Beach Library.
