The Way I See It

By cj pollick

Clearwater Super Boat National Championships This Weekend - Friday, October 1st through Sunday, October 3rd. For a complete list of activities, visit www.clearwatersuperboat.com.

Shop Locally - If you like the convenience of businesses in your community why not make an effort to spend your dollars with these local small businesses.

Hammerhead hardware is a perfect example of one such local business that offers a wide array of products, along with courteous service.

How About Those Rays - Tampa Bay Rays are in the playoffs. So are the Yankees. Go Rays!

Bank Ratings - Are you worried that your bank might be in financial trouble? The following local banks have been rated by Weiss Bank Ratings:

  • Raymond James Bank: C+ Rating (Fair)
  • BB&T Bank: C (Fair)
  • Bank of Tampa: C Rating (Fair)
  • US Ameribank: C Rating (Fair)
  • Regions Bank: D Rating (Weak)
  • Florida Bank: D Rating (Weak)
  • Old Harbor Bank: D Rating (Weak)

It has been reported that hundreds of banks will fail in 2010 and more in 2011. Perhaps it is time to ask you bank about their current Weiss bank rating and how secure are their bank funds.

GOP Says Thanks To VP Joe Biden - VP Joe Biden does not know when to keep his mouth shut. He is known for his outspoken demeanor and, at times, "locker room" way with words. Nevertheless, Joe finally said something in Ohio that caused many Republicans to say, "Thanks Joe."

Biden was speaking to a group of Democrat faithfuls when he referred to Tea Party supporters as "Tea Party Republicans," a citizen group Democrats (like Joe) don't like. Thus, Biden effectively associated "independent" Tea Party supporters with the GOP and further away from Democrats who, like Joe Biden, do not want Tea Party support.

Of course, other Democrats quickly stated they have no adverse views against Tea Party supporters who want smaller government and lower taxes.

Change Is Coming - Have you wondered why term limits can't be added to voter ballots?

Would you like to kick-out every career politician and make them get a job?

Would you like to change the direction America is headed?

Do you wonder why the media dislikes the "Tea Party?"

Do you believe it is time for Americans to reclaim the direction of our nation?

Do you want elected folks to help grow private jobs while downsizing government jobs?

If you want change, then you must vote in November. Vote for the change you want in government.

Trusted news source? FOX NEWS.

Scott Leads Sink, Says Rasmussen Poll - GOP Senate candidate Rick Scott now leads Democrat Alex Sink by 6% stated a recent Rasmussen poll. Rick Scott has, according to Rasmussen reports, expanded his support base as he attracts "Independent" and Tea Party voters. It appears that as more voters learn about the voting record of Alex Sink, polls reflect greater leads by Rick Scott.

Although Sink has a clear voting record in support of tax increases, her campaign advertising does not reflect her support for President Obama, bigger government, Obamacare, illegal immigration. Rick Scott, on the other hand, has campaigned on a promise to create jobs, cut taxes, shrink government, enforce illegal immigration laws and make tax cuts permanent.

There are distinct differences between the candidates seeking the governor's office.

March On Washington - Over 300 liberal groups, including the A.F.L. - C.I.O., the National Council of La Raza, S.E.I.U., and the Communist Party USA are sponsoring a march on Washington that they hope will attract more than 100,000 people.

Will Not Release Names And Salary Amounts - Citing concerns for workers safety, Los Angeles County is delaying the release of the names and salaries of its highest paid public employees. These name and salaries should be public record, what's to hide?

College Savings Up In a Down Economy - According to a 2009 College Savings Foundation report, investments in college savings plans were up nearly 15 percent.

Stop The Tax Hike - According to a new CNN poll, the most important thing Congress can do to help the economy is to stop the Obama tax hike. Ironically, Democrat leaders will not call for a vote until after the November elections.

Iran's President Visits The U.S. - During his recent visit to the United Nations (in New York City), Ahmadinejad accused the United States government of orchestrating the September 11th terrorist attacks. Yes, this anti-American hate-monger says all of this stuff on U.S. soil!

It gets worse, while in the U.S., Ahmadinejad met with the members of the Black Panther Party, in addition to Louis Farrakhan, National Representative of the Nation of Islam.

NFL Football Tickets And Blackouts - What happens in a national recession to the prices of NFL football tickets? They increase over 7% from the previous year.

How large was the ticket price increase for the Bucs? 24.4% increase.

The price per game ticket? About $90. Imagine a family of four paying $360 to attend a Bucs game! That doesn't include the price of parking or refreshments!

Blackouts? Yes, there are many football fans just do not have the money to buy tickets. And, of course, NFL league policy dictates television blackouts for teams that have not sold all game day tickets.

One Senator from Ohio wrote to the NFL explaining the current recession and NFL blackout policy should be revisited (and corrected.) Blackout televised football games when the price of a ticket is second highest in the NFL (like Tampa Bay) and there is 12% unemployment?

Not a good idea.

Colts Owner Says 18 Game NFL Schedule Is Coming - If comments from NFL owners are true, the NFL will go to an 18 game football schedule within two years. Added games will help generate needed revenues, say team owners.

However, not all football players support this move. In fact, retired Hall of Famer Howie Long stated that such a move should require concessions to the players. Player concessions that should be added with the extra games are things like added player compensation, two bye-weeks for teams, plus added players to official team rosters (especially on special teams.) "If you had ever experienced someone running into you at full speed from 30 yards, you would know what I mean," said Howie Long, "There are many injuries to NFL football players due to collisions of the game." According to Long, team owners should concede to those player requests.

18 game NFL season?

Yes, and Howie Long is correct, adverse injury impact on players will increase. It is well noted that many retired NFL players have disabilities due to their football playing days-and they are not rich.

Time will tell if owners make sensible concessions to players.

"Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience."
