It's a new year for Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic

CLEARWATER -  Presidents of local sorority alumnae groups gathered at the home of Lucile Casey of Zeta Tau Alpha for Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic Association's annual President's Reception last month.
Casey and Sue Meier, also of Zeta Tau Alpha, are serving as co-presidents of the 2013-2014 Panhellenic Council. The event kicked off a new year for the organization.  Members are looking forward to another yearly event--the Literary Muse Luncheon that will take place at Alfano's Restaurant, 1702 Clearwater-Largo Road, on Nov. 2.  Lisa Kothe, director of the Safety Harbor Public Library, will be guest speaker.  Kothe will provide insight into popular titles and discuss new resources available.
Used books will be sold at the event to raise monies for the Clearwater Panhellenic Scholarship Fund.  The group's major fund raiser, Panhellenic Premiere Night at the Largo Cultural Center, will take place Feb. 27.  The amount brought in by these events and by the Panhellenic Bridge Club determine the number of scholarships awarded to deserving college sorority women each year.
Clearwater Alumnae Panhellenic, which is affiliated with the National Panhellenic Conference, is composed of over 300 college alumnae representing 20 national sororities.  They include Alpha Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Alpha Epsilon Phi, Alpha Gamma Delta, Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Alpha, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Delta Gamma, Delta Zeta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Alpha Theta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Phi Mu, Sigma Kappa, Sigma Sigma Sigma and Zeta Tau Alpha.
In addition to the various fundraising activities, a number of social events are scheduled throughout the year.  They include the Tri-City Panhellenic Luncheon to be hosted by St. Petersburg Panhellenic in February and the May Brunch.
All sorority women living or visiting in the area are invited to join the group.  For more information, visit
